I chose the topic of developing young children’s self-regulation as my
focus for the research simulation.
This topic interests me the most personally and,
I believe, it will be of interest and significance to others. The reason I have a great interest in
this topic is because I am convinced that children need strong self-regulation
skills to improve learning and behavior.
My daughter is an example for that. Even though she is only about one and half years old, I know
that she needs help to control her emotions and behaviors and develop this
foundation skills of self-regulation.
If not, I am afraid that I would have problems in educating her in later
life when she grows up.
To
be frank, it is not an easy job for me to do this research simulation, even to
conduct the research chart. It is
totally a new skill to develop and learn.
I had taken longer time than expected to do this week assignments. I found that I have to do a lot of
readings and studies on the topic of interest in order to develop competency to do
this research simulation. So, if
any of you have any good advice or insight in doing this research simulation,
by all means, share it with me. I
will be very thankful for your help and support.

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you that this week’s assignments have been an overwhelming task. I am still struggling with part of them even today. I am hopeful that I will be finished by midnight tonight!
Your topic self-regulation is important for young children and I think that you can get some great articles to support your research from Zero to Three here is their website http://www.zerotothree.org/. I think it is the website that you chose to review last, but if I was getting your confused with someone else I wanted to offer them as resource for your topic.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you and Jill that this week's assignments is an overwhelming work. Finding articles that related to the topic we are interesting. Reading and studying these articles. It's taking a lot time. I am still struggling with finding the article that related my topic.
I like you topic and have the same sense as your: the young children’s self-regulation is very important skill that support their improve learning and behavior. I would encourage you to carry out research on this topic. I would like to pay attention to this topic while I am searching the articles. Whenever I find one I will post here.

ReplyDeleteSelf-regulation is an interesting topic when we talk about children and development. Unfortunately, I still cannot think of what sources to suggest since you have not provided a more specific point of what aspect in self-regulation that you would like to deepen. I think self-regulation should have a strong connection with a child's and teacher's cultural background.
